Big Boy Underpants Day

Ben loves to say, in his cute lilting voice: "I'm not a baby, I'm a big boy!"  So he decided he could try out some big boy underpants!

Whoops!

And you should have heard Sam's chortle!  I mean, this is a photograph to enter into a contest for Pull-Ups, don't you think?

We all had a good belly-laugh, but we're not totally sure Ben knew where that puddle came from!

On the Only Dark and Dreary Day in 6 months . . . Whatever Shall We Do?

For starters, Alli never ever runs out of creativity!  That's her handiwork you see on Ben,
but of course, it couldn't stop there, so . . .

. . . with a little help from our two boyfriends . . .

. . . and a little touch-up on Sam . . . we're ready to step out!  We decided to go to the in-town Kalapawai Cafe where everyone knows us, and have some fun!  Funny thing is, pretty soon you forget you've been painted except for the stares some obnoxious people have!  Just kidding about "obnoxious".  But for real, when we came home to Alli's, she had to have a little chat with a bunch of workers at the house next door, and she had totally forgotten the face paint.  I pulled away in my car, but saw the strange looks she was getting from the guys, so I circled around the block and returned to be sure she was ok.  By then, we'd all realized why they were quizzical about her appearance!

Waikiki Aquarium with "da boys"

Sam and Richard are consulting on how much to feed the meter.
By mainland standards, this is a small aquarium, but we loved it.  The displays were outstanding, and you could get up really, really close.  That's Sam (5) on the left and Ben (nearly 2) on the right, and I'm taking the pictures and lovin' every minute of our 6 months here getting to see my grandchildren and their parents!

I'm having trouble choosing which pictures to post -- the colors of the fish are spectacular, and there are some really "odd" guys, too.

Speaking of "odd guys", this one needs a dermatologist . . . badly!

They seem to get along well with each other, even that funny worm-thing near the top.
Sam's on a ledge to get a little better view.  Everything was well-documented so for those who can read, we sound quite smart describing what we're gawking at.

Looks a little like mom or dad on a snarfy day!
This guy is endangered.  I can see why . . . I mean . . . he's really cute!  That's a Monk Seal and a few mosey up on beaches over at Ewa (eh-vah) to molt, but 2 years ago, we had our very own right here in Kailua!  He drew spectators of all sorts, including curious doggies, so there was an encampment of volunteers and NOAA people who spent a couple of weeks camping out to guard him 24/7.

Don Ho's Restaurant

It was errand day today, after spending the morning with Sam and Ben, doing breakfast, then jumping-off-the-deck demonstrations, and concerts with 3 ukes, bongos and a drum set!  After a full morning followed by errands, stopping at Don Ho's for pupus and a drink was a very nice touch to end a very nice day.
