Breakfast at Grinds Cafe

Walk to Waimea Cyn overlook and a hike.  Ben saw someone walking with his hands behind his back like this (photo right), and tried it out!

But then, rain the night before left that indescribable Hawaii mud.  It is NOT nice and thick, but rather the slipperiest mud in the world.  Not even my ice skating experience helps, so Richard and I bailed and went on to other sights.  Take a look at Alli's blog for the muddy outcomes -- http://www.kampkrug.com/album/2010/2010-01%20JAN/Kaua%27i/slides/P1010130.html

Richard and I went on to visit Poipu Beach, Spouting Horn, and Hanapepe, a charming town on the SouthWest side.  We met the "kids" for dinner at the Waimea Brewing Company, a beautiful, "old Hawaii" place occupying the lands of a former sugar plantation.

The Grove Cafe (where we had dinner) at Waimea Brewing Company is the building on the right, and an expansive lawn behind me (the photographer) drifts into the ocean.  We'd love to have a huge family reunion here some day, and take over some of the many cabins.
